Property owners can now take advantage of Government of Canada incentives to retrofit existing inefficient apparatus with control devices to optimize their operation and save energy. One area of assured savings is in the control of parking garage fans. Typical garage fan operation is 24 hours per day 365 days per year. That translates into huge energy costs. By law for safe operation garage exhaust fans must operate only when noxious gases are in concentrations above 100ppm. Refundable cost effective retrofits would incorporate intelligent* detectors that would trigger corresponding fans and extract that areas concentration. Once sensors detect the areas concentrations are to safe levels the controls turn off the fans and close the damper openings.
